Beauty News

As I have wrote about before on this blog my guilty pleasure is Cosmo Magazine. Check out this months cover-Why Love is Harder in the Winter- haven't you always wanted to know that? What His Hug Reveals! Ha, ha, ha this magazine kills me! Oh- and Colours That Make a Man's Heart Race. This months Cosmo has some exciting tips for natural beauty from Kate Somerville who gets celebritys red carpet ready!

Strawberries
Cut in half (fresh or frozen) and rub the juice on your face to release skin lightning juice. Do this for two min.

Freeze a zit
Wrap an ice cube in a towel and rest on the blemish for a few min. The ice will reduce the redness and inflammation.

Potato
Soak two thin slices in cold water for a min then set on closed lids for 10. An enzyme in the potato brightens skin and the cool temp reduces puffiness.

So there are some new DYI beauty tips to try! Let me know how it goes!!!

What a brilliant idea...

Big Heart Clutch from Marc Jacobs.

I LOVE love LOVe this!!!+

I'm light as a feather! Merry as a schoolboy!

Hello Lovelies,

My birthday was wonderful. My Toyfriend took me to Niche for supper then ice cream for dessert:) Then off to see A Christmas Carol in 3D one of my favourite Christmas stories. It was exciting to see London in 1836, and how much the city's culture has changed, however I wonder how accurate this portrait of London Town is during that era. The little details in the film were so well done from the snowflakes to the life like faces of the characters in the film. It inspired me to think about making some jewelry...

After the film my Toyfriend asked me a question I have never really thought about: What does Bah! Humbug really mean? so I thought I would do some research and this is what I came up with.

This is what wikipedia.org has to say:

Humbug
is an old term meaning hoax or jest. While the term was first described in 1751 as student slang, its etymology is unknown. Its present meaning as an exclamation is closer to 'nonsense' or 'gibberish', while as a noun, a humbug refers to a fraud or impostor, implying an element of unjustified publicity and spectacle. The term is also used for certain types of candy .In modern usage, the word is most associated with Ebenezer Scrooge, a character created by Charles Dickens. His famous reference to Christmas, "Bah! Humbug!", declaring Christmas to be a fraud, is commonly used in stage and television versions of A Christmas Carol.

Please go see this you will not be disappointed!

"If I could have my way, every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' on his lips should be boiled in his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart!" Ebenezer Scrooge

Merry Birthday!

Today is my birthday!

I am not one to care much about age I believe you are only as old or young as you feel! Every year I buy myself a present for my birthday- kind of like a "you made it though another year" type thing, and this year has been something! So I bought myself the Canadian wristlet from Roots. I think it's cute and fun!

I wonder where I will be on my next birthday?!?! I have always wished that my birthday was in the Summer and there is only one way to make that happen...

Can't wait to have some birthday cupcakes tonight:)

Those whom the gods love grow young.

Today I will be cleaning and decorating and preparing for my birthday party this evening. I have invited 12 lovely girls to go out for Thai food then back to my apartment to have drinks and yummy goodness. The best thing about birthdays is the excuse to get all of your friends together in one place once a year! I love it! I can't wait to see them all:) I will be sure to take heaps of photos and post them.

Whenever a thing is done for the first time, it releases a little demon.

A walk on Halifax waterfront at night! We got an extra hot Starbucks Hot Chocolate and went for a fun but cold walk by the harbour. There is something magical about Halifax at night when its cold and dark and all you can hear is the water and are all bundled up trying to keep warm...

Constructive compliments

Michael Scott: Attention please. Jan Levinson's coming very soon and so we're going to have our weekly suggestion box meeting. So you can get in your constructive compliments ASAP.
Ryan Howard: Don't you mean "constructive criticism?"
Michael Scott: What did I say?
Kelly: You said "constructive compliments." That doesn't make any sense.
Michael Scott: Well Kelly, that was neither constructive nor a compliment, so maybe you should stop criticizing my English and start making some suggestions. K?

I have now changed the settings so that anyone can make comments or constructive complements on this blog! So please feel free to comment often. They really make my day:)

Junk Food For My Brain

I am cleaning my apartment and trying to pack as little as possible for my upcoming move. So when I looked at my magazine collection, which is completely out of hand, I knew they couldn't come with. So I thought I would give a quick flick through the pages to see if there is anything that I "needed" to keep for fashion inspiration or beauty tips. In the pages of Cosmo (which I hate to admit I love-it's like junk food for my brain) I found some lovely natural beauty tips tucked in between 101 Ways to Please Your Man and How To Touch Him There. Here they are:

Try a Homemade Honey Mask:

1 Tablespoon honey
1 Tablespoon hot water
1/2 Tablespoon any kind of jam

Apply evenly to your face. The fruit acids naturally exfoliate. Leave on for one min then wash off.

Share a Champagne Body Cocktail:

1 Cup of yogurt
1/4 cup of cheap bubbly (chill the rest for later)

Gently rub into each others (or your own) skin. The yogurt cultures and sugar slough off dead skin cells, while antioxidants from the champagne grapes repair damage.

So there it is, the ruminates of my Cosmo Magazine collection. R.I.P.
