Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween my lovelies! I found this scary picture of my friend Crystal and I when we were at the University of Maine together getting our Education Degrees:) This Halloween we are dressed up as chicks from the 80's! Good times! I miss the good ole days of Wizards and $1 Vodka and Red Bulls! (Note box of wine in the background that was a staple in our room;)
This Halloween I am going to a Fire Hall dance in Annapolis which should be something... and then tomorrow night I am going trick or treating with my friend Michelle and her wee ones! I will post a picture of Michelle and I dressed up in our Cat and Love Bug costumes:)
Have a happy Halloween my friends!

boring

So very true!!!

A Year of Cakes!!!

The decorative nuts are dipped in caramelized sugar and hung in bat fashion -- upside down -- so the sugar streams and hardens into the best candy on the block.

So I have been trying to help my Mother go through her old magazines and throw them away!!! And I came upon a Martha Stewart issue from January 2005. This issue suggests that every month for a year you could make a new yummy cake! And this months is a Darkest Chocolate Crepe Cake! When I saw this picture I was sold!!! What a great idea:) I can't wait to make this cake and the others in the article every month! I will keep you updated monthly and you can join in on the fun;) or perhaps you could take this idea and find your own new cake every month to try and keep me updated:)

world will change

Though I might travel afar, I will meet only what I carry with me, for every man is a mirror. We see only ourselves reflected in those around us. Their attitudes and actions are only a reflection of our own. The whole world and its condition has its counter parts within us all. Turn the gaze inward. Correct yourself and your world will change.

Hazelnut-choco coffee!

Cold weather is here! So why not enjoy some yummy hot coffee!

Start with your favourite cup of coffee
Add 2 tsp. of Nutella
Stir until spread melts
Top with whipped cream and choclate shavings:)

For a kick!
Add a shot of Frangelico!

Just holding a cup of warm coffee makes you feel freindlier toward others, making you percieve them as happier and more generious, say researchers at Yale Universtity.

Worldwide Howl at the Moon Night

In this age of all things vampire I thought it might be a hoot to take a deeper look at 'Worldwide Howl at the Moon Night,' a biting energy that penetrates the neck of this day. Actually, vampires be damned today, as we take a closer look at the metaphysics involved with the lone wolf. In fact, many in the animal community think that wolves get a bad rap because, even though many tales tell otherwise, there has actually never been a confirmed death of a human being by a healthy wolf. Wolves are in fact social, friendly and highly intelligent. This animal also has a quick capacity towards making strong emotional bonds, so learning to trust your own instincts and intuitions while also securing strong relationship attachments is the medicine the wolf brings. Wolf medicine is also believed to be able to guide you to take appropriate actions and situations that will keep you safe from harm. When the wolf shows up in your life, it's time to pay attention to your emotional attachments and deem whether they are keeping you happy, healthy and in a state of constant balance.

close to somebody...

At the end of the day, when it comes down to it, all we really want is to be close to somebody. So this thing where we all keep our distance and pretend not to care about each other, it’s usually a load of bull. So we pick and choose who we want to remain close to, and once we’ve chosen those people, we tend to stick close by. No matter how much we hurt them. The people that are still with you at the end of the day, those are the ones worth keeping. And sure, sometimes close can be too close. But sometimes, that invasion of personal space, it can be exactly what you need.

I heart NYC! Here are a few pictures I took from Central Park and leaving NYC! I could take pics in Central Park all. day. long. The first picture is of my feet after the first few days in NYC! Tess and I both were felling it! The best thing about it was the day after those were the most comfortable shoes I owned and I ended up wearing them for the rest of the summer:)
Oh how I miss NYC! How great would it be to go there for Christmas or New Years?!?! Something to think about...

choice

“There is so much about my fate that I cannot control, but other things do fall under the jurisdiction. I can decide how I spend my time, whom I interact with, whom I share my body and life and money and energy with. I can select what I can read and eat and study. I can choose how I’m going to regard unfortunate circumstances in my life-whether I will see them as curses or opportunities. I can choose my words and the tone of voice in which I speak to others. And most of all, I can choose my thoughts.”

Halloween Costume Idea 7: the Walk of Shame

What you’ll need: men’s shirt, short skirt, messy hair, smeared makeup and heels in hand
Why you should try it: Completely unexpected, completely hilarious. And we bet you know someone who’ll think it hits a wee bit close to home.

Halloween Costume Idea 12:
Elaine from Seinfeld

What you’ll need: long skirt, leather jacket, poufy hair and bad dance moves
Why you should try it: Didn’t you hear the news? Elaine is back in style! Be sure to bust out her horribly embarrassing dance moves to really get into character.

Halloween Costume Idea 17:
Pink Slip
What you’ll need: pink-colored slip or nightgown
Why you should try it: Because you get to go around yelling “You’re fired!” at everyone. All. Night. Long.

I love it!!! I think I will dress up as "the walk of shame" or "the pink slip"-I can't make up my mind...

changing horizons

So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
