Salted Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate

Salted Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate

1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1/4 cup water
3 cups milk
3-4 Tbsp. creamy peanut butter
1/2 c. bittersweet or semisweet chocolate chips or 3 oz. finely chopped chocolate

In a saucepan, add the sugar and cocoa and whisk in the water until smooth, then whisk in the milk over medium-high heat. Heat until steaming. Remove the pan from the heat and add the peanut butter and chocolate chips. Let sit for a few seconds, then blend with a hand-held immersion blender or whisk until frothy. Finish with a touch of sea salt and some toasted marshmallows. (Don’t skip this part, because you’ll really be missing out!)

I found this great idea via tonispilsbury and had to share with you!

Want to make cupcakes in a hurry? Skip the frosting! Set your baking timer for five minutes before your cupcakes are done and place a large marshmallow on top of each cupcake. They also have a recipe for my favourte cupcakes, Can't wait to try them!

Toni’s Real Red Velvet Cake

Ingredients:

cake or all-purpose flour- 2 1/2 cups
sugar- 1 1/2 cups
baking soda- 1 tspn
fine salt- 1 tspn
ground cinnamon- 1 tspn
cocoa powder- 1 tspn
canola or vegetable oil- 1 1/2 cups
milk- 1 cup
egg whites- 4
red food coloring- 2 tbspns
white distilled vinegar- 1 tspn
vanilla extract- 1 tspn
strawberry extract- 1 tspn
marshmallows, jumbo

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cocoa powder
In another mixing bowl or electric stand mixer, whisk together oil, milk, egg whites, food coloring, vinegar, vanilla and strawberry extracts
Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a stand mixer until batter is smooth
Pour batter into lined cupcake tin
Set timer five minutes before baking is complete, approximately 14-16 minutes to add marshmallows
Finish baking for five minutes until toothpick comes out clean, total baking 19-21 minutes

3 Things to Let Go of That Will Make You Happier

It's funny how we find ourselves in adulthood and a lot of us don't really remember how we got here. But if you're 'here' and you're not 100 percent happy with your life, here are three things that you can let go of that might make you happier.

1. Letting Go of Bad Habits.

Whether it’s an old bad habit, a silly meaningless ritual, or a downright senseless behavior, we all have our personality-based skeletons in the closet. Sometimes it’s best to acknowledge a previous bad habit that might still linger from time to time and then try to squash it as best you can. Recognizing it first is crucial, though, and sometimes can be the hardest part.

2. Letting Go of Your Ego.

We’ve all suffered a blow to the ego at one point or another. Failures and troublesome challenges humble us all even in our finest moments. Accepting and admitting defeat and putting your ego aside is sometimes necessary. The next time you lose at something or things don't go your way, accept it and either come back to it later or simply move on!

3. Letting Go of Bad Relationships.

It’s also best to know when to let go of certain relationships. This applies especially for those relationships with a lot of history where you really care about a person, but the relationship is more about the past than the present -- and most definitely not the future. But it's also important to be open to new relationships. When you find people you really click with, don’t be afraid to initiate the effort of trying to establish a new friendship.

As we all know I love Peacock Feathers! And when I found this how to while googling lululemon peacock yoga crops I was over the moon excited! So here's how you do it!

i used mostly MAC product for this - eyeshadows in warm chill (frosty mint green), swimming (lustrous golden green), moon's reflection (medium blue with pearl), beautiful iris (shimmering lavender) and parfait amour (a velvety violet). i also used select-cover up in NC20 (since i did this eye on my sister, not myself) as a base and to even out discoloration.

to this mix, i used GOSH velvet touch eyeliners in metallic brass (brown-black with golden pearl), pretty petrol (navy blue with pearl) and green grass (true green) and bobbi brown longwearing gel eyeliner in ivy shimmer ink (a blackened bottle green).

i applied the select-cover up as a base, in the undereye area and over the eyelid, to even out color. i applied warm chill as a general base, using a large shadow brush to sweep it up to the brow bone, then highlighted with a bit of NARS the multiple in copacabana.

if you have sparse brows (my sister has nice dense ones, lucky her), you can fill them in for definition - same goes for your lashes, once you're done, you can apply mascara if you want, but my sister has long black ones anyway, so all i did was to clean them off a bit with a dampened cotton swab.
now comes the part that is slightly tricky. the key is to be patient and BLEND, BLEND, BLEND! i sort of did a graudated rainbow of all the colors - parfait amour fading into beautiful iris, fading into moon's reflection, and finally, fading into swimming, from the inside edge of the eye to the outer corner. i lined the bottom rim of the eye with pretty petrol eyeliner, and set with moon's reflection. i lined the waterline with metallic brass. then i used a very fine eyeliner brush to line the top lid with ivy shimmer ink and joined it with the blue on the bottom. then i used the ivy shimmer ink and pretty petrol liners together to draw on a general peacock feather design, and finished off the centre with a mixture of green grass set with swimming on top and parfait amour (with a little fix + to intensify color).

December is going to be a crazy busy month! I have many Christmas parties to attend as well as the big Wedding the 23rd of December... yes two days before Christmas:) I have also started knitting many of my presents and I will share them with you after Christmas:) Sadly this year there will be no Snowman Tea because the wedding has us quite busy this month but we will be having one next year for sure!

I have also pledged to not only do yoga everyday this month with the 23, 24, 25 as an exception but to also run! Can't wait!

So every year this time I do a post about the best Christmas films! I have already watched Home Alone, one of my favourites! So what other ones will I have to watch this season?!?!

'White Christmas' (1954)

Aren't we all dreaming of a 'White Christmas'? The movie starring Bing "Mr. Christmas" Crosby and Danny Kaye is as charming as the tune, with all the elements to warm the heart: Two GIs come home from WWII, fall in love with singing-and-dancing sisters and help their general with his failing Vermont inn. Awww.

'Elf' (2003)

Frank Ricard. Ron Burgundy. Ricky Bobby. They're all unforgettable Will Ferrell personas, but the role he might be remembered for most in 50 years is Buddy the Elf (what's your favorite color?) from '03's instant holiday classic. This non-stop laugher exemplifies all-ages entertainment.

'Home Alone' (1990)

It made Macaulay Culkin the biggest child star on the planet, reigned at the box office for 12 straight weeks and grossed $533 million worldwide, but the best thing about this holiday staple is watching an 8-year-old kid toss burglars Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern a good old-fashioned Christmas beat-down.

'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' (1989)

Chevy Chase is at the top of his game in this sight-gag-and-one-liner-laden homage to the love/hate event that is the family Christmas. Where, besides this list, is there a place big enough for a movie with Yule laughs this huge? As Clark Griswold would say, "Bend over and I'll show you."

Love Actually (2003)

So you love rom-coms? Try eight in one. Though some storylines (Liam Neeson helps his son woo a classmate) work better than others (horny Brit has American threesome), even the grinchiest among us will find something to heart here. It's a valentine to love all wrapped up in a Christmas bow.

The Santa Clause (1994)

Tim Allen is actually, uh, jolly in this fun family tale about a guy who accidentally kills Kris Kringle -- whoops! -- then has to take his job, unwillingly at first but then growing to love it (not coincidentally, how many grown-ups feel about the movie). We will not comment on the two sequels.

'The Muppet Christmas Carol' (1992)

Michael Caine is miserly Ebenezer Scrooge and Kermit the Frog is kindly Bob Cratchit in the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational take on the Dickens tale ever to star 99 percent Muppets.

And of course the new Muppets Chirstmas film! I can't wait!!!

Winter Running

Lori and I have started our Winter running schedule. So far, so good! Last week we were running one minute and walking two minutes, and this week have moved onto running one minute and walking one minute... I am actually enjoying going back to the basics of running, and with asthma it's quite hard running in the cold and around houses with wood stoves, so the timed break is nice. I am hoping to run a half marathon this Winter... however, so far its been quite warm for this time of year, I am slightly afraid of what will happen when it gets really cold and wet and snowy...
